A LITTLE ABOUT US

I Am More Than A Pet Sitter.

I Am Auntie Em.

Emily Tomas, Pet Care Professional, Owner & Operator of Bark Ave

I love your fur babies whole - heartedly.

I dedicate myself to caring for their minds, bodies & souls.

I work hard everyday to ensure they are fully content while you are away.

I travel through whatever the seasons bring.

I monitor each and every one of them closely.

I provide you with the best resources I know, as you encounter obstacles

while they grow.

I help to train them to be the best they can be.

I know each of their favorite things.

I spend time in your home, often away from my own.

They leave an everlasting impression on me.

I capture beautiful memories with them.

When we lose them, a piece of my heart travels with them.

I am more than a pet sitter.

I am Auntie Em.

Life's greatest comfort is found in the company of animals.

Through the years I found myself doing everything possible to be around them; from rescuing wild critters from harm, to sitting for friend and family

pets, no other task seemed to measure up to the happiness I achieved through caring for animals.

In 2014, my passion flourished into my profession, and it has been the most rewarding privilege developing such close bonds with animals and their people.

I am a proud mama to the sweetest girl on Earth, Gia. I've loved her from the moment I laid eyes on her, and she is my daily inspiration.

She is a gorgeous Rottweiler-mix (pretty sure there is some angel mixed in there too) whose hobbies include: chasing after her squeaky toys, demanding belly rubs, playing hide-and-seek, watching tv, hiking, napping, and her favorite activity, cuddling (to name a few).  Gia joined our family in 2010 with the help of ROAR in Ridgefield, and we are beyond blessed to have her.

My husband John, also a member of our team, has grown up with lovable canines most of his life. They have been present for milestones, celebrations and hardships, and have been the best friends we could always rely on, along with

each other.

Among the other loves of my life are photography, traveling, cooking and

embracing my inner movie critic.

I believe we can all benefit from taking a page out of a dog's book:

live each day as it comes, don't take yourself too seriously, enjoy the little things, and love unconditionally.

Hi, I'm Michelle, the person you see at a party that immediately seeks out and befriends the dog or cat of the house. I’ve loved animals my entire life, and that love runs in my family. My parents’ marriage started with them befriending a stray dog on the island where they honeymooned!

I was born and raised in a home that always had at least a dog and a cat, but more often than not we had multiples! Throughout the years, we’ve also had rabbits, chickens, fish, and a myriad of reptiles.

I joined the Bark Ave team in January 2018, and couldn’t be happier! Life is better when you get to spend your days with such wonderful creatures. I was also a volunteer at DAWS where I helped both cats and dogs transition between their rough pasts to their bright futures with their furever families.

In my spare time I enjoy baking, and am a novice gardener... I’m still learning! Much of my free-time though is spent with my own two fur babies, Poochie and Hank. We love to go for rides and explore nature together, and if I can find a new bakery along the way, that’s great too!
